StatsFlow (Browser History & Analytics Tracker) is a Chrome extension designed to help users visualize and understand their browsing habits. Your privacy is our top priority.
2. Data Collection & Usage
This extension accesses your browser history only locally on your device. The data we process includes:
Visited URLs and page titles (for identification and search)
Visit counts and timestamps (for trend and time analysis)
Domain names (for grouping and category statistics)
Active-tab session duration by root domain (for time-on-site and daily category limit features)
3. Local Storage & Zero Data Transmission
All collected data and analysis results are stored and processed strictly locally using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local and IndexedDB APIs.
We do not transmit, upload, or sync any of your personal browsing data to external servers, cloud storage, or any third parties.
4. No Sale or Transfer of Data
In compliance with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies:
We do not sell user data to third parties.
We do not transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's core functionality.
We do not use user data to determine creditworthiness or for any lending purposes.
5. Permissions Explained
To provide its core functionality, StatsFlow requires the following permissions:
history: Required to aggregate and analyze your browsing records for charts and visit counts.
storage: Used to save local settings and statistics, including theme, blacklist, category limits, session duration totals, and notification preferences.
favicon: Used to display site icons for better visual identification in the list view.
downloads: Required solely to allow you to export your data as a CSV file or chart images.
tabs: Used to detect which http/https tab is currently active so the extension can attribute session-based time-on-site to a root domain. Only the active tab’s URL is read for local duration tracking. Also used to open the local Dashboard when you tap an action on a limit alert.
idle: Used to detect when you are away from the keyboard (60-second threshold) so session duration tracking is paused and statistics reflect actual active use, not tabs left open while you are away. Idle state is not stored or transmitted separately.
notifications: Used to show optional, locally generated alerts when daily category time limits you configure (e.g. Social or Video at 80%, 90%, or 100%) are reached, and for an optional weekly on-device summary. No browsing data is sent to any server to create these alerts.
alarms: Used to wake the background service worker on a schedule so it can check local duration totals against your limits and deliver weekly summaries without keeping a persistent connection. Alarms only trigger on-device calculations using local storage.
6. User Control & Data Retention
You have absolute control over your data:
Blacklist: You can exclude specific domains from being tracked or analyzed.
Daily category limits: You choose which categories have daily caps and the limit in minutes. Set a limit to 0 to disable alerts for that category.
Notification controls: Limit alerts can be snoozed for the rest of the day from the notification. Ensure Chrome is allowed to show notifications for this extension in your system settings.
Manual Deletion: You can clear specific records within the extension at any time.
Uninstallation: Removing the extension from Chrome will automatically delete all data and settings associated with StatsFlow from your device.
